Diane Marois is a journalist, author, director and music digger. In charge of the cult show "Le Feel de Diane" since 2019 on the 1st RTBF and on Jam RTBF, she created within the Belgian media, a space to propel the currents and emerging artists of the nu funk, nu soul, hip hop, nu jazz, soulful, psychedelic soul movements etc... A unique positioning on a national channel, which earned her the appellation of game changer in the French-speaking European media. Her voice as much as her playlists make her signature.
A voice that she has lent to the narration of several documentaries in recent years "Sur le champs!" by Michaël Antoine, Nicolas Bier & Jean-Simon Gérard, "Ysaÿe is not dead" by Marc Temmerman, and to her own music documentaries: "Les Chroniques D'Orphée" and "Funky Diary".
A graduate in Political Science from the ULB and the Sorbonne Paris 1, Diane is a child of Hip Hop. The energy and the message of this movement touch her. It is thanks to Hip Hop that she became aware of the life of the neighborhoods in France, their problems and their creative force, and of course of the contemporary history of black and Hispanic minorities in the US. A journey that has shaped her approach to music: it is emotion, sensation, energy, but also message and prism of reading of a society.
A credo that she will continue to develop in articles and collaborations with the Nouvel Obs and l'Écho des Savanes in France, Trace magazine in New York, or as a columnist on RFI, and to which she will be able to give its full scope in her documentaries "Les Chroniques d'Orphée" in 2013. A first success supported by Trax Magazine and big names in the music industry such as: Pedro Winter, De la Soul, A Tribe Called Quest or Mos Def.
And "Funky Diary" in 2022. A road-movie where she follows the French funk artist Dabeull, on tour in Los Angeles in the heart of the Chicano neighborhoods, for whom Funk is almost a religion since 40 years. An adventure that plunges us into the life of the neighborhoods and into the daily life of this community confronted with gang and police violence.
After creating programs broadcast on Arte (Cuba Underground documentary series) and TF1 (Cocktail de filles, short fiction format), she devotes herself to writing documentaries and launches in 2023 "The Merode Music Club", a cycle of conferences, showcases and musical cine club at the Hotel The Merode, and collaborates with Meuh radio in the framework of their Circus Festival.
