The Merode Music Club
March 20th
Electro Jazz: the fusion of genres, the mark of the times. Discover the electro jazz sound of The Gallands, the duo formed by Stéphane and Elvin Galland, a meeting between two generations of musicians.
Diane Marois and TheMerode welcome Stéphane and Elvin Galland for a conversation about their brand-new musical project, The Gallands.
For the first time, due to the confinement measures in their country, father (drums) and son (keyboard) found the time and the ideal opportunity to create and record music together. The result is a blend of two vast, wide and rich musical worlds that merge into a unique sound result that mixes Hip-Hop, Jazz, R’n’B, Electro, Pop, Breakbeat and Funk.
As symbolic as the meeting between two generations of musicians is, the fusion of genres is in the air today. The boundaries between styles have become porous, and genre definitions and labels obsolete.
Why this evolution? Is it still possible to see a major musical trend emerging? Have all the notes and harmonies been created? What does the merging of genres and the disappearance of labels tell us about our times?
Join us on March 20 and hear what The Gallands have to say on musical collaborations and the fusion of genres.
After the conference, the father and son duo will play part of their repertoire during a jam session mixing groove, trippy chord progressions, a mix of acoustic and electronic sounds, some blazing, punchy and energetic rhythms, and cinematic atmospheres.
Seats are limited, do not forget to register.
